Easter 2010

We celebrated Easter in Hartford, Conn., for the seventh consecutive year. This year was extra special, though — and not just because the weather was heaven-sent. This also was Bobby's first Easter, and Carolyn enjoyed teaching him the traditions.

The kids awoke to their overflowing baskets from the Easter Bunny. We celebrated Easter service at their grandfather's church, where Bobby particularly loved the choir and they both got to hunt for easter eggs afterward. Then we enjoyed another wonderful Southern-style, Easter Jazz Brunch at Black-Eyed Sally's, the famed BBQ & blues joint in Hartford.

In awe of wrestling legend Dan Gable

The ESPN "SportsCentury" episode on Iowa wrestling legend Dan Gable aired again over the weekend. Befitting the subject, it's the best one in an outstanding series.

Not only is Gable perhaps the greatest amateur athlete and the most successful coach of any sport, but he also might be the most compelling story — the heights of success and achievement combined with the depths of heartbreak and disappointment.

A true champion.
